  • Manage silent auction process for golf tournament and gala, which includes generating solicitation letters, receiving, assessing value, tracking, displaying items, payment collection, and item delivery and generating thank you letters to donors and buyers.
     
  • Manage game night auctions and raffles by generating revenue for the Foundation by soliciting fans to purchase raffle tickets and bid on items at the table.
     
  • Manage online auctions by securing creative Orlando Magic items to place on site, coordinate league affidavits and certificates of authenticity.  Monitor the bidding process and handle the payment process, distribution of items and thank you letters to the buyer.  Generate revenue reports to supervisor.

     
  • Assist manager with all aspects of the golf tournament and gala as necessary with mailings, soliciting donations, registration, timelines, volunteer assignments, photo stations, catering, follow-up thank you letters, etc.

Hospice of the Comforter
Marketing and Public Relations Intern

Hospice of the Comforter, the 2nd largest nonprofit in Central Florida, is the only nonprofit hospice serving patients and their families living with an incurable illness in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties.  Hospice of the Comforter has provided more than $6.5 million in free care and served more than 10,000 families in Central Florida with physical, emotional and spiritual support.
 

 Position Description 

The intern position is designed to provide support to the Communication Department while providing students with an in-depth knowledge of public relations in a working environment.  Interns will be expected to perform duties that contribute to selected projects.  These duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining print media clippings, research, writing and media contact.

Orange County Parks and Recreation is seeking a motivated and creative marketing professional to assist with the organization and promotion of the CLUB. This new incentive program rewards kids ages 5-19 for making positive choices about how they spend their free time. By joining a recreation program and enrolling in the CLUB, members will receive free tickets to sporting events, admissions to theme parks, skate parks, concerts and more. They’ll also receive discounts to participating stores and restaurants. A detail oriented and energetic individual with a drive to excel is needed to help market this program to youth, and to help plan and work at special events.

Responsibilities include:
• Develop and implement innovative marketing strategies to promote the CLUB. The Club is a new incentive program that rewards kids, ages 5-19, for being involved in recreational activities.

The Orange County Regional History Center is the state’s largest history museum and one of the largest in the U.S..  The new facility opened in September 2000 and is one of the jewels of the downtown Orlando revitalization initiative.  The development department raises funds to support the museum, it’s exhibits, education programs and activities.    You can read more about the state's largest museum at http://www.thehistorycenter.org  We currently have one student from UF and two from UCF.  If you know Erica Frost, Lindsey Chapman or Shaniece Vaughn, please feel free to speak to them about the program. Internship opportunities available for undergraduate AND graduate level students with time commitment ranging from 10-40 hours per week depending on the student and their program requirements. Skills Needed:  Interpersonal communication, Internet research, writing skills, imaginative, organized, and energetic. Student must be interested in learning what it means to fundraise for a nonprofit organization in a professional setting.

Project:               
The selected student will work with both the development director, membership coordinator and sponsorship coordinator  for the History Center in a comprehensive effort to raise funds for the museum. Activities include special event planning, direct mail, major gift fundraising, prospect research, corporate philanthropy and sponsorship, and volunteer coordination. This is a shadow-based internship where the student will work directly with the development director coordinators on widely varying projects. Fall interns will also help plan an annual holiday party and golf tournament; spring interns will assist with an annual fundraising gala; summer interns will help plan the annual membership meeting as well as the annual gala which is held the Thursday before Memorial Day. Interns will not be responsible for directly soliciting cash gifts but may be asked to help in the solicitation process for other projects such as silent auction items.
               
All students work on special events and major development campaigns.  One student will be selected to focus on membership events and campaigns, another on sponsorship events and campaigns and a third student will work on volunteer based events and campaigns. Skills Gained:  Students will learn what it means to fundraise in a comprehensive development office for a large nonprofit institution.

Intern Responsibilities
· Work as a team member of the Events Department of Florida Citrus Sports to help ensure success in game-day and event operations for the Walt Disney World Florida Classic, OUC Half Marathon & 5K, Champs Sports Bowl, Capital One Bowl and Orlando Citrus Parade.
· Identify and recruit approximately 400 volunteers from across Central Florida to attach over 80,000 pieces of citrus fruit to floats prior to the Parade.
· Manage the volunteer relationship from start to completion: communicate with all volunteers, maintain volunteer database, coordinate volunteer registration and thank all volunteers.
· Coordinate day-of logistics for the four-day Orlando Citrus Parade Volunteer Expo. Works with the Parade Operations Committee and various vendors to ensure the event runs smoothly.
· Assist with the development and implementation of an awareness plan for those businesses and organizations throughout downtown Orlando that are affected by the Parade route. Meets with major property managers and building owners to ensure tenants are aware of the Parade and can make alternative route and parking plans.

Intern Qualifications
The ideal candidate will posses the following credentials:

This semester we are inviting two college students to gain hands-on public relations experience as interns with CKPR. The first two weeks of the internship will be spent shadowing a member of the agency and working on small projects with supervision. After the first two weeks, the intern will be given projects of his/her own to complete with minimal direction in order to learn hands-on the day-to-day tasks that exist at a public relations agency.

The goal of the CKPR internship program is to offer students exposure to seasoned public relations professionals and educate students about the business.

Fry Hammond Barr (FHB) is an Orlando-based advertising agency established over forty years ago. It’s public relations division was established in June 2002. Gain insight into the public relations and professional services marketing field with an internship position with Central Florida¹s largest business law firm. Great opportunity for a student who may be interested in going to law school or into professional services marketing.

DESCRIPTION:
Unpaid internship position for a senior - year public relations or communication student in good standing. Internship is a twelve-to-fourteen week period, and may be renewed and/or extended based upon performance. Successful candidate should be a strong writer, with an interest in public relations and/or communication career, with a demonstrated proficiency in copywriting and project management. Additional skills include computer knowledge, including MS Word, MS Excel, Powerpoint and data entry.

Location: 215 North Eola Drive, Orlando, Florida : (Thornton Park downtown area, office faces Lake Eola, near Panera¹s on Robinson and Eola, free parking at corner of Summerlein and Robinson Streets)

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will get toŠ
* Identify target media to place features, edit media lists, and research trade publication editorial schedules;
* Draft articles and other material for internal/external publication;
* Assist in industry publication/ media outlet research for potential news stories and publicity opportunities.
* Support the firm¹s business Development department with general public relations, special events (depending on student¹s schedule) and media contacts;
* Proofread a wide variety of law firm documents
* Assist with the maintenance and update of the law firm¹s marketing database.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Student intern will work between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, with a mutually agreed upon schedule to accommodate the student¹s academic schedule. Intern will work between 12 and 20 hours per week, for a three-or four- credit internship. Student must have own transportation, dress in a professional manner and be dependable.

The Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission (EDC) is seeking applicants for its Public Relations Internship Program.

Founded in 1977, the EDC serves the City of Orlando and Orange, Seminole, Lake and Osceola counties. It is the largest private, not-for-profit, regional economic development organization in Florida. Broad and Cassel is a full-service corporate law firm with eight offices throughout Florida.  The firm is headquartered in downtown Orlando.  The public relations/marketing intern will support the overall goals set forth by the Marketing and Business Development team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supports all functions related to internal communication, event planning, program research, business development, and other general marketing and public relations activities including:

Helping to develop daily content for firm’s intranet site by performing necessary research, interviewing internal contacts, and writing/editing copy
Assisting in the ongoing development of and performing updates to the firm’s website
Assisting with the planning and/or implementation of special events and programs
Assisting with the development and production of marketing materials
Assisting with the coordination of print jobs by working with outside vendors Assisting with the preparation and coordination of firm mailings
Helping to maintain current information on firm attorneys and updating legal directories
Assisting with the preparation of business development proposals
Performing program and/or business development research
Attending marketing planning meetings as schedule permits

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree-seeking junior or senior level college student in marketing, public relations, advertising, journalism, or other related communication field. 

  • Prior internship experience, or seeking internship credit through a college or university

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; and internet search engines

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to think independently and to function in a self-directed manner with a strong attention to detail and follow-through
