Rollins
Public Relations Internship

The Rollins College Office of Public Relations and Communication is seeking interns for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters to assist with a variety of duties. Internships during the academic year may qualify as a work study. Students may also earn academic credit. Internships average 10 to 20 hours per week during the school year.

The ideal intern candidate will be an English major or Communication minor and will possess strong writing, organizational and computer skills, as well as an interest in the fields of journalism or public relations. The intern will assist with a range of duties from administrative work including press clipping maintenance, filing, and updating media lists and the College media guide, to the research and writing of news releases and stories. A concerted effort will be made to provide the intern with tangible experience and results worthy of a portfolio. This position requires a personal interview with the staff of the Office of Public Relations and Communication.

The Office of Public Relations and Communication manages all public relations and communication activities and supports the College’s development efforts. Throughout the year, the staff publicizes faculty research and campus activities and events through internal publications as well as externally through local, state and national media. Services in the areas of editorial, photography, publications and media relations are available to faculty, staff and students. The public relations staff manages some of the home pages on the Rollins College Web site, a bi-annual community newsletter and an electronic newsletter for faculty and staff, R-Town. The public relations staff works closely with the College Sports Information Director, as well as the staffs of the Hamilton Holt School evening studies division, the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business, and members of ARC (the Arts at Rollins College).

The Event Intern will be a part of the daily operations of the Events Department, helping to successfully implement gameday and event operations for all four Florida Citrus Sports signature events and other membership-based ancillary events.
